Travel Information

Everything you
need to know.

Visa, flights, mobile connectivity, weather and cultural etiquette — distilled from our years of running journeys across Vietnam.

Vietnam is a long, S-shaped country in Southeast Asia stretching from the borders of China in the north to the Gulf of Thailand in the south. Its landscape carries every contrast imaginable — limestone karsts in the north, fertile river deltas in the south, an unbroken thousand-mile coastline, and rugged mountains along its spine.

Vietnamese culture is layered with centuries of Chinese and French colonial influence, woven through with indigenous traditions, strong family values, ancestor worship and a deep appreciation for art, music and food.

The official language is Vietnamese, the currency is the Vietnamese Dong (VND), and Hanoi is the capital. Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon) in the south is the country's largest urban centre. Da Nang sits roughly in the middle and serves as the gateway to Hoi An.
